WHAT DOES IT SIGNIFY?

RealEyes and other looking at you

The Project, RealEyes, creates an experiment for the audience in which they watch themselves through the eyes of others. By stacking the eyes of previous participants and themselves, various different eyes look at the participant. These eyes then create an environment of surveillance, where the participant is judged for their action. This sense of surveillance is heightened with the exhibit being in a public open space.
RealEyes and looking at yourself
RealEyes dives the audience into exploring the meaning of observation where the audience questions the idea of examining themselves in a public open space. At first, it seems like the observer has a sense of intimacy, an act that is initiated by them mirroring themselves as if they were alone however that sense of privacy quickly fades away as they realized that they are in an open space and are also being analyzed by the public.

Visitors to a Gallery”

CCTV cameras are used inside a gallery connecting the data to projectors which display on the walls. The meaning’s that everything you do is tracked and that it takes time for you to be aware of it.

“Time Delay Room”
By Dan Graham

A telematic artwork where the viewer observes themselves in room A with an 8-second delay and people from room B in real time. This works inversely for the viewers in room B as well. The meaning behind the artwork was to place the participants as observers — forcing them to always be conscious of their surroundings.
